No Child Left Behind State Report Card

Last Updated on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 10:00 PM

The Federal No Child Left Behind Act requires states to prepare and make available state report cards containing the most recent information available on assessment, accountability and teacher quality at the state level. Wherever possible this information is to be disaggregated in terms of gender, major racial and ethnic groups, students with disabilities, students with limited English proficiency, students  considered economically disadvantaged and migrant students.

For each grade and subject tested (English, mathematics and science) information must be provided on the percentage of students tested, disaggregated by the required subgroups.

Information must be provided comparing the actual achievement levels and the state's annual measurable objectives in reading and mathematics for the major racial and ethnic groups, students with disabilities, students with limited English proficiency and students considered economically disadvantaged. Information must also be provided on the "other" academic indicators used by the state in AYP determination.

Disaggregated information on student achievement at each proficiency level (novice, apprentice, proficient and distinguished) must be supplied, including trend data.

NCLB also requires states to provide information on the elementary and secondary teachers in the state: the professional qualifications of the teachers, the percentage of all elementary and secondary teachers teaching with emergency or provisional credentials, and the percentage of core classes not being taught by highly qualified teachers. District and school data on teacher qualifications are available on the school and district report cards.

For state level information on many of these data, visit the Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB) Website at: http://www.kyepsb.net/
