ThinkQuest Kentucky

The ThinkQuest  (TQ) program provides an exciting student centered approach to learning. Grouped in teams, students synthesize core content, design original digital art work and images to create powerful in-depth, interactive web sites.

Competitions dates are announced on the TQ web site, and are open to students and teachers from anywhere in the world.

Teams usually have groups of students who are between the ages of 9 and 19, and one adult Coach who is a teacher. To get started, Coaches must enroll their team(s).

Teams build a creative and educational website on any topic within one of the official competition categories.

Entries are evaluated in a two-step process that includes peer review and judging by an international panel of professional educators.

School teams join during sign up time, upload completed sites, and winners are announced.

ThinkQuest Library
Over 25,000 students and teachers from around the world have submitted nearly 1500 interactive web sites on topics as diverse as the exploration of Mars, the physics of baseball, or the plays of William Shakespeare.

The ThinkQuest program's extensive library of web site entries is used as an educational resource by millions of students, teachers, businesses, citizens, and government agencies each day.

The ThinkQuest Library offers many content driven web sites that ESL (English as a Second Language) students can access for learning.

Creating ThinkQuest Teams

KENTUCKY ThinkQuest Team Tips

"The ThinkQuest competitions were designed to help students and teachers develop quality educational materials for the Internet to be used by other students, teachers, and schools everywhere," said Al Weis, founder, past president and past chief executive officer of ThinkQuest, Advanced Networks. ThinkQuest is now part of the Oracle Foundation.

ThinkQuest has been listed by TechLearning as one of the 10 Top Innovations Projects.

KENTUCKY ThinkQuest
ThinkQuest announces winners in June of each year. Kentucky participants who complete a site and upload to ThinkQuest  and have the highest score for Kentucky, will be recognized the following year. That school will be honored at the Annual STLP Awards as the Best TQ in the State.
