Assistive and Adaptive Technology

Information about assistive technology, including resources available in Kentucky, such as the KATS Network and assistive technology centers.

KATS Network
The Kentucky Assistive Technology Service Network consists of a statewide network of organizations and individuals connecting to enhance the availability of assistive technology devices and services to improve the productivity and quality of life for individuals with disabilities.

Regional Assistive Technology Resource Centers
Kentucky's AT centers provide device demonstrations and short-term loan of assistive technology devices for up to six weeks.

Kentucky Special Education Cooperative Network
Every school district in Kentucky is a member of a special education cooperative.  Each cooperative has a staff member dedicated to assistive technology.  Contact your cooperative's director for assistive technology support in your school district.

Windows Built-in Accessibility

Macintosh Built-in Accessibility
"Features designed to provide students with multiple and flexible ways to access content for learning. Known collectively as Universal Access, this technology provides smooth, elegant access for students with learning differences."
